Here’s an original early 19th century British satirical pencil drawing on J. Whatman paper.

The drawing shows a humorous mechanical carriage contraption powered by horses walking on a moving platform, with figures dressed in Regency period clothing. A signpost reading “Cripplegate Road” suggests a London setting. The exaggerated movement and slightly absurd mechanical idea are typical of late Georgian / Regency satire.

It is drawn in pencil on English laid paper with a visible “J. Whatman” watermark when held to the light.

The drawing is in reasonable condition but has horizontal and vertical fold lines, rippling to the paper, and age-related toning and staining. There is a tear with an old tape repair visible on the reverse. There are also several small old insect holes. General wear consistent with age.
