This is for ONE reproduction (Grade 1) of a George Cross, of the 1940 George VI GRI type first issued under the reign of King George VI.

The GC was originally instituted in 1940 as the highest gallantry for civilians or members of the armed forces in actions for which purely military honours would not normally be granted during WW2. Each copy has a plain reverse, whilst the obverse consists of a plain bordered cross with a circular medallion in the centre depicting the effigy of St George and the Dragon, surrounded by the words "FOR GALLANTRY". In the angle of each limb is the Royal cypher GVI. The Cross hangs by a ring from a bar adorned with laurel leaves. It is suspended on a ribbon that is 38mm wide, being dark blue.

This reproduction (Grade 1) GC is unnamed, comes with a short section of ribbon and additionally has a pin fitting for wear. Very nice older/heavier and very good quality example.
