Onboard Fuzz Factory inspired guitar effect - the FZ01.

Hand-assembled fuzz circuit inspired by the classic Z.Vex Fuzz Factory, built with genuine vintage “new old stock” germanium transistors for an authentic, characterful sound.

This board is designed to be installed inside a guitar, with the option to move selected controls to the body of the instrument. Simply test the board, decide which controls you would like externally mounted, then snip off the relevant onboard controls and wire in external potentiometers. Full instructions are provided.

You can also install the board in a standard pedal enclosure with a stomp switch, just like a regular fuzz pedal. The choice is yours.

Approximate board dimensions: 75mm W x 35mm H x 15mm D

Supplied with instructions. External potentiometers are not included, but the required specifications are listed below. Please do not attempt installation unless you are confident modifying guitars or electronics. Always test the board before making any modifications to your instrument.

External potentiometer values:

External potentiometers are not included because the choice of which controls to mount on your instrument is up to you. The board will work without them, as it already has onboard potentiometers fitted.

You may use either linear or logarithmic potentiometers. Logarithmic pots may offer finer control around distortion and oscillation thresholds, but experimentation is encouraged.

This style of effect is famously associated with Matt Bellamy of Muse and is capable of bitcrushed destruction, heavy overdrive, wild oscillation and a wide range of fuzz tones. Dial it into self-oscillation for classic electronic metal sounds.

Each board is tested before shipping. The white plug on the PCB is used for my test fixture and does not need to be used during installation. Solder pads are provided on the board for direct wiring.

Happy fuzzing!
