Faye Franklin (1921–2012) was a gifted American artist whose career spanned over 65 years. Based primarily in Chicago, her work is recognized for its vibrant modernist and abstract styles, often featuring whimsical imagery of women and children. Born in Chicago, Franklin’s talent was recognized early when she received a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago at the age of 11. She went on to study at several prestigious institutions, including: Chicago Academy of Art, Old Town Art Institute, and the Evanston Art Center, where she trained under Bauhaus artist Paul Weigardt and sculptor Nellie Barr. Throughout her career, she was an active participant in the Chicago art scene, exhibiting her work at the Art Institute of Chicago “Rent” exhibitions from the 1960s through the 1980s.
