Description:
Original early 19th-century engraving from Examples of Ornamental Sculpture in Architecture by British architect Lewis Vulliamy, engraved by Henry Moses and published in London circa 1824
This elegant title plate was drawn from ancient originals in bronze, marble, and terra cotta found in Greece, Asia Minor, and Italy. The composition showcases classical decorative elements — including a richly ornamented Ionic capital and detailed architectural carving — rendered with exquisite precision by Moses.
Lewis Vulliamy (1791–1871) was one of Britain’s leading neoclassical architects, while Henry Moses (1782–1870) was celebrated for his fine architectural engravings. Together, their collaboration produced one of the most refined studies of ancient ornamentation of the period.
A superb and decorative collector’s piece — ideal for framing or as a scholarly reference for those interested in neoclassical architecture and design.
London: Published by Lewis Vulliamy, Henry Moses, and Robert Jennings, circa 1823.
