Early 20th century Stand IIa compound microscope manufactured in Wetzlar, Germany by Ernst Leitz and distributed through the company’s New York branch, as stamped on the base:

Base stamped: Ernst Leitz Wetzlar / No. 74142 / Filiale New York (New York branch of the German firm).  Serial number places production approximately between 1905 and 1910.


The Stand IIa was a professional medium-size laboratory model intended for routine biological and medical work. This example remains mechanically sound and optically clear, making it suitable for both collectors and practical slide viewing.


Construction is lacquered brass with original black enamel stage and fittings. The instrument retains its correct early 20th century configuration.
