A hand-thrown stoneware bowl featuring a tapered "beehive" form with visible throwing rings. The exterior is coated in a matte cream/oatmeal glaze with abstract, gestural brushwork in iron-black/brown. Notable for its heavy, unglazed red clay foot and a hand-incised fish mark on the base. The interior features a central spiral (swirl) that mirrors the movement of the wheel. Excellent "wabi-sabi" aesthetic, celebrating organic texture and rustic charm.

A Closer Look at the Details

• The Glaze: The bubbling and "pitting" you see in the dark spots is called crawling. Usually considered a flaw in industrial pottery, in studio pieces like this, it’s often intentional to add "landscape" texture.

• The Mark: The fish is a symbol of perseverance and abundance. Many potters who studied at Mashiko (Japan’s pottery village) use variations of this mark.

• Condition: In image #2, there appears to be a small vertical hairline crack near the base. That might be a crack from a firing line.
