Antique/vintage 1920s die cut fold-out/standing embossed Valentine's Day card featuring fairy / girl being pulled by a pair of swans through the water with a seashell behind her.
The art is meant to be a reference to the painting "The Birth of Venus". Swans fold to the side to create a 3D effect. Original string "reins' are still attached to venus' hand and to each of the swans beaks. Heart in the middle reads "To My Sweetheart"
Paper is thicker like cardstock and has a glossy finish. Colors are beautiful, bright and unfaded. Incredible embossing details, down to the feathers on the swans!
I believe it is marked "Germany" on one end, but it is very difficult to make out (see pictures)
Beautiful antique condition! Bright, unfaded colors. No writing. Some minor creasing at the corners. One of the irises has been repaired. Some discoloration from glue or tape on the back.
As always, PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES FOR FULL CONDITION INFO.
Found in an estate collection with many other Valentine's from the 1920s, so I'm attributing the age to that time.
Measures approximately 6" x 7.5" when folded flat.
