The Secret World - PC DVD Game 2 Discs & Manual

The Secret World (TSW) is a modern-day action MMORPG originally developed by Funcom and co-published with Electronic Arts (EA) Partners in 2012. The game is famous for its "everything is true" premise, where urban legends, myths, and conspiracy theories are real.

Core Concept & Setting

Modern Setting: Unlike most fantasy MMOs, TSW takes place in the contemporary "real world," featuring major hubs like London, New York, and Seoul.
Supernatural Conflict: Players investigate an occult "future war" against dark forces like Lovecraftian entities, vampires, and a corrupting force known as The Filth.
Dark Fantasy Influence: The story and atmosphere are heavily influenced by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, and the Indiana Jones franchise.

Secret Societies (Factions)

Players must choose one of three global secret societies, which dictates their starting city, unique uniforms, and specific mission perspectives:

The Illuminati (New York): Corporate-driven puppet masters focused on power and wealth through any means necessary.
The Templars (London): Zealous crusaders who value tradition, discipline, and the uncompromising destruction of evil.
The Dragon (Seoul): Orchestrators of chaos who believe in manipulating events quietly to maintain cosmic balance.

Unique Gameplay Mechanics

Classless Progression: There are no fixed classes or levels. Players use an Ability Wheel to unlock over 500 skills, allowing them to switch between roles (tank, healer, DPS) or mix weapons like assault rifles with blood magic.
Investigation Missions: These are complex puzzles that often require "real-world" research. Players may need to use the in-game browser to look up historical facts, translate Latin, or decipher Morse code.
Combat: Features movement-based, action-oriented combat where players can equip two weapons at a time and use "builder" and "consumer" abilities to deal damage.
