Antique Victorian late 19th century leather bound jewellery box with two-part internal storage, velvet lined. Wood is probably oak.The jewellery box is in good condition, considering age but there is some age-related damage - the leather cover has come off both ends of the box and there is slight damage to the back of the box. Hinges are secure and functioning. There is an attractive brass handle and escutcheon. The escutcheon had become detached but has now been re-attached very well. The interior is lined in both upper and lower sections in blue velvet, the top section in good condition but some wear in the lower section. The leather tabs to remove the top tray are intact and in good condition. The top tray is in 8 sections and the lower area is divided into two sections. This item most likely belonged either to my grandmother or to my great aunt.
