This four-issue limited series is based on a popular video game from Atari. It is set in an apocalyptic future, where humanity has been reduced to savagery and violent, monstrous gods have risen from the depths of the earth. Basically, it’s an all-out battle book-god versus god, with lowly humans caught in the middle. The narrative is straightforward, and the artwork is more than solid. Action is the main goal of Primal Rage, and writer Chris Knowles and artist Kevin Rasel deliver it in spades.

Primal Rage is a versus fighting game developed and published by Atari Games in 1994 as an arcade video game. Toys, comics, and other merchandise tie-ins were also produced. As with other bloody U.S. based fighting titles of the time (most notably Mortal Kombat), Primal Rage sparked considerable controversy due to its violence level, depicting gory fatalities and the live devouring of humans.
