This 6” scale sofubi is of one of Ultraman’s most implacable foes, the Alien Mefilas (Mephilas, Mefiras, Mefirasu Seijin) that first appeared in episode 33 of the original Ultraman TV series in 1966. This sofubi was made by Popy (a subsidiary of Bandai) as part of their Kingsaurus (aka Kingzaurus) product line of Ultraman monsters (kaiju) and aliens (seijin). These toys are also sometimes known as the “footprint series” because of the unique imprint on the soles of each monster’s feet.
Mefilas is being sold as is: it’s in good condition from the front but there is a small hole on the left side of the back of his neck. It has moderate paint loss. Mefilas is not a common figure so it has some value, and the opening bid price does reflect a discount for the damage.
Please feel free to ask any questions before bidding, and check out my other auctions for more sofubi from the Kingsaurus series, as well as other Japanese vinyl figures, American advertising characters, bobble heads and other kitschy and sometimes rare collectibles.
Thanks for bidding!
