📘 Description

The Shipbuilding Industry — Its History, Practice, Science & Finance — David Pollock: An in-depth Edwardian study of British shipbuilding first published in 1905 by Methuen & Co., covering the historical development, technical practice, scientific principles and financial organisation of the shipbuilding trade. The volume includes plates and a large fold-out cutaway illustration of the Cunard twin-screw steamer Caronia, making this a useful reference for maritime historians, ship enthusiasts and collectors of industrial period works.

⭐ Condition

The Shipbuilding Industry — Its History, Practice, Science & Finance — David Pollock: Overall in acceptable to good condition for an Edwardian technical hardback, showing clear signs of age and use. The binding is firm and the volume is complete. The page edges show moderate foxing, with scattered foxing internally and heavier spotting to the prelims. There is light pencil annotation to the first few pages only, which does not affect readability. The bottom edge of the text block is unevenly trimmed, giving a rough appearance when closed — consistent with period trimming rather than later damage. A large fold-out cutaway plate of the Cunard steamer Caronia is present and complete but misfolded, with part of the edge protruding from the text block and showing light edge wear and bruising.
