Vintage Soviet digital pedometer SHM-6 “Zarya”, produced in the USSR in the 1980s.

This is a mechanical step counter that works without batteries. The device uses an internal inertial mechanism that reacts to body movement while walking. Each step triggers the counting mechanism, and the total number of steps is displayed through a numeric window.

The pedometer was typically worn on a chain or attached to clothing, which was common for Soviet-era models. It was used to monitor physical activity, daily walking, and basic fitness.
