With an Introductory 4 page Poem by A. R. Ammons and Callahan’s afterword. Unpaginated, size 11.25" x 13.75" Callahan presents his beach series, his favorite subject. Taken from 1941 to 1980, the duotone photos feature shores from Lake Michigan to Cape Cod. Originally made to coincide with a major exhibition at the LIGHT Gallery in New York, this is from the limited first-edition run of 5,000 copies.
Condition: the book is like new in fine condition - the boards are clean, flat without edge wear or corner damage. Tight binding. Interior in fine condition, pages are bright, clean, unmarked without reader wear. The dust jacket is free of tears and wrinkles, but shows some wear lines and dark specks on the surface (see in photos).
