El Lissitzky was a Russian artist, designer, and theorist associated with Suprematism and Constructivism. His work bridges fine art, typography, and architecture, using geometric abstraction to convey ideological, spatial, and structural concepts central to the early 20th-century avant-garde.

Created in 1919–1920 and widely reproduced thereafter, this composition uses abstract geometric forms to symbolize the Bolshevik victory over opposing forces during the Russian Civil War. The red wedge and white circle function as symbolic elements rather than representational imagery.
