  • Description & Analysis

The 1888-S Morgan Dollar is a noted conditional rarity in the series. Most seemed to have been released well before the Treasury's Hoard was dispersed in the 1960's, meaning most examples are of relatively low quality. The Redfield Hoard contained quite a number of this issue, but even those were on the low end of Mint State. Gem examples are quite rare.
