PEGASUS FURNITURE SUITE

For sale as a single lot are two bentwood recliner chairs, one bentwood recliner loveseat, two bentwood corner tables, one two person ottoman with bentwood table, and one footstool.

The first thing your eyes take in are the gentle curves of the smoothly bent blond wood. The legs gently curl up and become padded arms. Covering the furniture is an off-white leather.

The Pegasus design was manufactured by the Ekornes company of Norway, famed for their Stressless line of furniture, and offers an invitation to stylish relaxation.

Due to our age, we have to downsize, and we won’t have room for this furniture. Perhaps it can grace your home as it has ours.

Loveseat and Chairs

NOTE: On one chair a small plastic piece of the recliner mechanism has broken that holds a metal rod to the seat bottom. I suspect some glue and a screw through the plastic pieces will fix it. We have to downsize soon, and our health makes activity like this difficult, plus I no longer possess any tools. Accordingly, it seems best to discount the cost of the furniture three hundred dollars ($300) and allow a new owner to fix it or consult a furniture repairer. See “Condition” below for more information.

Ottoman with Table

The Pegasus large ottoman with bentwood table matches the loveseat and chair. The ottoman has plenty of padded leg room for two, but it also has ample storage space inside. The top of each side lifts up for access to storage or slides outward to lengthen the ottoman for use as a handy table, perhaps for refreshments. The U-shaped bentwood table top can be used when the top of the ottoman is extended or not, or the table top can be left off. The ottoman sits on casters that have never marred our floors.

Footstool

The smaller footstool matches the other pieces in this collection. The footstool is also on casters, and the hinged top opens to reveal convenient storage space.

Bentwood Corner Tables

The two stylish Pegasus corner tables, in matching blond bentwood, are not only beautiful, they are incredibly useful. Each table has rubber floor protectors.

DIMENSIONS (approximate, in inches)

Width/Length is measured left to right as you sit in the loveseat or chair, and depth is the measurement from front to back.

CONDITION

Overall this suite of Ekornes Pegasus model furniture is in fantastic vintage condition. There are no rips, tears, stains, or odors. The leather and seams are in wonderful condition.There are no cracks in the wood, although the chair with the working recliner has a small chip on its back leg at floor level (see photo with ruler), and there is a faint ring from a glass on the ottoman table (see photo). Except for the one chair with the recliner issue, each seat back properly reclines and each headrest smoothly extends and retracts.

With regard to the broken recliner mechanism, the photo with number 1 in the upper right hand corner shows both the damaged plastic piece and the same undamaged piece from the recliner mechanism on the other side of the chair. The small piece missing from the damaged piece remains in the chrome tube. Photo number 2 shows the broken piece and how I believe it can be repaired by light sanding, cutting, or filing of sufficient material to make a flat surface for the screw head (this step may not be necessary), and where the piece should be drilled, glued, and screwed into the broken piece still in the chrome tube. A second repair option could possibly be making an entirely brand new piece with a 3D printer, using the unbroken piece as a model. Either way, a fix should be easy, and I will include more detailed thoughts with the chair when shipped.

SHIPPING

Unfortunately, we are unable to crate or ship these pieces. They may be picked up locally by you or a shipper. We are about 40 miles due west of Chicago. You might think about arranging with a moving company because of their knowledge about moving furniture and having the equipment to do so. Also, they often have partially loaded vans and might be able to “double up” with another load and offer a reduced fee for shipping your way.
