1975 Stag - Sadly selling as I now work oveerseas and do not have time to finish as I rarely get back to UK. Its three years now that it has been untouched.
A huge amount of work was done on this stag to cut out the rust and make it solid. I was never intending to make if concours..I just wanted a good solid car to drive and have fun. I resprayed it myself, its not perfect but a respectable finish that met my goal.
I noticed that there is some bubbling in paint around the windscreen wiper drives, the scuttle is solid, so I believe this is due to poor preparation in this area and can be easily rectified. This was actually the reason I finally decided to sell as it made me accept that just leaving the car in storage is not good long term.
The odometer shows 85477miles which i believe is correct, the engine ran like a sewing machine..super smooth and gearbox was same. The exhaust is removed but comes with car, so I havent tried running the engine since I started the project.
The original interior was brown, but included in the sale is a new set of black carpets, plus new seat foams and black seat covers (note that these are not "covers" but made to reupholster the seats properly for an original factory finish. There is also a new mohair roof from Don Trimming that requires fitting.
The dashboard, clocks, trims, windows etc are all included for refitting, but are in boxes. The chrome bumpers have some pitting etc but clean up and look ok, my original intent was to have them rechromed. There is also a hardtop included, but this was in poor condition, it would be a lot of work to save it..but not impossible. There are also new window and boot rubbers etc.
The boot lid is fibreglass, the original is included, it could be restored..but whilst a purist may not like fibreglass it was a better option for me - it looks absolutely fine and as boot lids are so prone to rusting, I decided itvwas the better long term option.
I have more pictures that I can share a link to if interested. The tyres are all new, but were never intended for when it went on road, the profile is not correct .. i fitted them to move car around, at least one of them goes flat probably due to not seating on rim perfectly... but it is a slow leak!
This is a great project for someone to finish and enjoy... it wont take a huge amount of work to get the interior back in and sort the remaining bits and pieces of trims and lights etc and have a fun car for the summer. All the expensive parts are there to get her finished..its still with much regret that i am selling... but hopefully someone can get her back on the road. Car is located in mid wales, if necessary I have some local contacts that I can provide to quote for delivery.
