SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Fibreglass Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) is a 180g/m2, 100mmwide, and 30m long. The roll is of high-quality fibreglass material designed for GRP, roofing and laminating applications. The binder is Emulsion. This product is ideal for creating a strong and durable roofing structure or GRP repairs. Originating from China, this CSM mat is 180g weight per m2, manually cut from a 1m wide roll and is suitable for various building materials and suppliers' needs. It is essential to note that this product contains fibreglass, and proper PPE should be used when cutting or handling to avoid dust exposure.
Fibreglass Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) – 180g GSM
This fibreglass chopped strand matting is supplied as one continuous 30 metre roll, manually cut to 100 mm (4") width.
Manufactured for consistent wet-out and good fibre distribution when used with compatible resin and liquid roofing systems including Polyurethane (PU).
Commonly used for GRP and PU flat roofing, trims, upstands, gutters and detail work, as well as other liquid applied roofing systems, marine, pond, vehicle and general composite laminating applications.
The 225g weight per m2 is ideal for layering, repairs and reinforcement where flexibility and conformability are required around corners, edges and joints.

This is 180g/m² CSM. It is commonly used as a lightweight alternative to 200g or 225g matting, offering easier handling and faster wet-out while still allowing you to build strength as required.
Rather than using one heavy 300g, 450g or 600g mat, many installers prefer building laminate strength using multiple layers of 180g CSM. This gives greater control over thickness and often produces a better finish.
Layer Build Guide (Using 180g CSM)
• 1 layer = 180g (lightweight alternative to 200g / 225g)
• 2 layers = 360g (similar build thickness to 300–350g range)
• 3 layers = 540g (similar build thickness to 450g range)
• 4 layers = 720g (heavier build than standard 600g)
Why use multiple lighter layers?
• Easier and faster wet-out
• Improved air release and fewer trapped bubbles
• Stronger bond between laminating stages
• More control over finished laminate thickness
• Smoother, more consistent finish
Commonly selected for GRP roofing, trims, upstands, gutters, pond work and general fibreglass repairs where controlled laminate build is preferred.
