Replacing the universal joints is an inexpensive way to refresh the steering system.

Note: When using more than two universal joints in a system, a support heim must be used.
Note: Increasing a U-Joint's angle of operation beyond 30° dramatically increases the stress on the joint, weakening the entire steering mechanism. If a greater angle is needed, add another u-joint.
In order to determine which shaft and u-joint combination you need, you can follow these steps:
- Determine which style steering shaft you need for your specific application
- Measure the distance from the column to the steering gear box to determine which length shaft you need.
- Determine which spline is on your steering box or rack. You can measure and count, using the spline charts for reference.
