Martin CTM 5-17 2018
The Martin Custom Shop, one of the current Martin factories, crafts exquisite guitars using its outstanding skills and extensive experience. Its production environment and processes are completely different from those of the regular line. In a dedicated area in one corner of the factory, the shop maintains traditional construction methods while maintaining a higher level of precision. This top-tier department produces highly refined custom models, including the top-of-the-line Authentic Series. This instrument is an all-mahogany custom "CTM 5-17" model, originally produced for the small "5" size. This used instrument was manufactured in 2018. It features a genuine mahogany body, mahogany neck, 44.5mm width, 645mm scale length, modified low oval neck profile, performance taper, black ebony fingerboard and bridge, diamond and square short abalone fingerboard positions, Grover open-back batten chrome tuning machines, old-style headstock logo, custom-designed X-bracing made of Sitka spruce, and a 1933 amber tone finish. The number sizes have been around since the 1800s, with the larger the number, the smaller the size. The smallest of these was the "5." It has a small and charming size. In modern times, it is closer to the size of a mini guitar. All-mahogany models also exist in "15" and "17" sizes, but these differ in the finish. This instrument is an all-mahogany, gloss-finished Style 17. Since many lower-priced models of this size tend to give off a cheap impression, this instrument, made in a custom shop, is of exceptional quality. While it may not offer the full range of sound you'd expect, it boasts excellent mid-range resolution, a powerful sound, and a fast attack. The all-mahogany body lends it a warm and bright tone. The sound separation is excellent, yet the sound is not too distorted, making it easy to play. The bubbly tone is something you can only experience with a small size. It's moving to think that someone played this size over 100 years ago. Unfortunately, there are some minor scratches and paint chips on the center corner of the back of the body, a grain-sized scratch on the bottom of the body side near the 6th string, and a slightly deeper scratch near the waist of the body side near the 1st string. Otherwise, the guitar is in excellent condition, with only very superficial scratches on the body and neck and slight string contact scratches on the top of the headstock. The neck is also in good condition, and there's plenty of saddle remaining, making this a guitar that will continue to be used for years to come. A Size 5, Style 17, brought back to life in the modern era. This is a compact guitar made by a custom shop. An authentic and charming guitar that's hard to find in current production. Its antique look is also stylish. We highly recommend this guitar for your consideration.
One metal part of the case is damaged, but it comes with an original, custom-sized hard case.
