This item came from the R 10 cars of the IND subway, which were built by American Car & Foundry in 1948. There were 400 built. The last of them were retired from passenger service in 1989.  A few still exist as part of museum collection of the New York City Transit Museum.

Car 3206 was built in 1948 by the The American Car & Foundry Company (ACF).
