“JAZZ ULTIMATE”
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and
Hard-To-Find original CAPITOL Records very first High Fidelity Long Playing Microgroove
MONO press, released in Chile in 1958 by Capitol Records, made and distributed
by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), licensed
from Capitol Records Inc., USA, catalog number T-933, with machine etched
matrix numbers -T1-933-N1 1S (“1S” inverted) in Side 1 and –T2-933-N12 1S (“1S”
inverted) in Side 2, with traditional bright red/silver Capitol Records labels
of the period with big Capitol Records logo at top. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from
Chile!!!
“JAZZ ULTIMATE” was originally
released early 1958 in USA and we didn’t have to wait much, because after some
months this album was released here in Chile and like usual in the period, we
got it with an UNIQUE COVER, made of a a single piece of hard cardboard folded
in the middle, with sheets of paper fully attached to the cardboards, but with
flaps of front cover pasted on the cardboard of back cover and then the sheet
of paper of back cover pasted on the cardboard and over the flaps of front
cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork of original US Capitol
Records issue, with album title written in English only and Capitol Records
logo at top right corner. Back cover also keeps the original US design, with
the differences that in Chile the album title and tracklist are written in
English, translated to Spanish, with liner notes written in Spanish only, with
the album title in red color and names of Bobby Hackett and Jack Teagarden in
blue color. As you could have already noticed, here in Chile they decided to
use the same US catalog number. In labels, the album and song titles are
written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and additional
information about licenses and tax law applicable in Chile, with original cash
price, “$ 5.775”, printed in Side 1. It’s interesting to notice an error, the
last song of the album is “'S Wonderful”, but in Chile in both back cover and
label, it’s misspelled “It’s Wonderful”. So, here you
have the chance to get and own this so classic album in the world of jazz in
this MEGARARE VERY FIRST CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, with Spanish-written
song titles and UNIQUE ERROR, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned
here in eBay by the very first time. A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and
collectors of Jazz/Dixieland music of the ‘50’s and especially for all fans,
lovers and collectors of Bobby Hacket, Jack Teagarden and the musicians who
participated in this recording, Billy Bauer, guitar, Buzzy Drootin, drums, Ernie
Caceres, baritone sax, Gene Schroeder, piano, Jack Lesberg, bass and Peanuts
Hucko, clarinet and tenor sax!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in
great VG or even VG+ condition, with moderate wear in all edges, more evident
in the mouth edge and corners, with evident age browning and faint blemishes in
back cover, with moderate wear in front cover and evident ring marks, with tape
at top and bottom edges which some past owner used to “hide” the seam splits,
but as you can see it’s complete and without marks of any kind, only a sight
crease at bottom left corner. The record is in EX or EX+ condition both sides,
glossy and clean, with some light scuffs and hairlines, and very soft small scratches,
mostly hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on
both sides are in great NM- or NM condition, clean and clear, with only minimal
spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX- or EX condition both sides, loud,
clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in
records from Chile), with constant very light crackles and some occasional soft
clicks here and there, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and
clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a
great record in this MEGARARE VERY FIRST CHILEAN PRESS, with Spanish-written
song titles and UNIQUE ERROR, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds or audiophile,
but for sure with a complete cover, free of marks, and with a record with still
a very nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after
about 67 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious
collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! Yes,
Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click
on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the
last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable
record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You
know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY
BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good
copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy
again… Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and
best regards from Chile ______________________________________ We don’t use the generic
“VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or
“NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a
normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading
System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed
records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate
description. MINT (M): I only use this
grade for Sealed records. NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like
new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only
some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the
sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or
poster are in like perfect condition. BAD (B): The record
is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a
collection-filler. PAYMENT Payment must be received within the first 5
(five) days after the auction is ended. SHIPPING (Packing
and Postage) We have an unique value worldwide (except USA,
see details below): GBP20 for weight until 0,5kg (usually 1 or 2
records 12" depending on thickness of the vinyl/sleeve) GBP28 for weight 0,5-1kg
(usually 2 to 5 records 12" depending on thickness of the vinyl/sleeve) GBP15 for one 7” record Important Update (September 2025) Due to new restrictions imposed by the USA on
parcel services worldwide, Correos Chile has suspended package shipments to the
USA. Now, my only option for sending a package from Chile to the USA is
the private FedEx service, through Correos Chile. The shipping cost for records
is as follows: GBP55 for weight until 0,5kg GBP70 for weight 0,5-1kg I know it’s not a minor difference, but I can’t do anything. So, if you buy any of my records and shipping is to the USA, PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE WITH THE CORRECT VALUE informed. All records will be packed outside of the
sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with
tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services. SHIPPING COST
ISN’T “4” – WAIT FOR MY INVOICE FEEDBACK We don’t have anything to hide and we know the
buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most
of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know
that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to
receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must
receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers
who receive the records immediately after they have got the records. IMPORTANT TO READ
IMPORTANT UPDATE (September 2024) Because the
UK’s tax authority, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), requires eBay collect
VAT information from sellers with UK customers, I’ve been informed that I need
to have a “valid UK VAT number on file” to sell to UK customers. As I live in
Chile and all my items are shipped from Chile, I don’t have an “UK VAT number”,
so I’m sorry to inform that I’M FORCED TO EXCLUDE
THE UK FROM MY WORLDWIDE SHIPPING POLICY. If you live in the UK and
you’d like to bid/buy some of my records, please contact me, I’m sure we could
find some solution. If you have some doubt or question, feel free
to contact us, we will be glad to answer all that you want to know about this
item. Check out my other RARE AND HARD-TO-FIND records from Chile and South America |
