“THE BEAT GOES ON”
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Atlantic Records very first STEREO press released in 1976 in Chile by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA” M.R. (ASFONA Records), licensed from ATCO Records, USA, with red/black Atlantic Records labels, catalog number SD 11000, with hand etched matrix numbers SD-11000-A EB-CD in Side A and SD-11000-A EB-CD in Side B. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides is written the exact day of pressing, “9-I-76” (January 9th of 1976). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!
“THE BEAT GOES ON” is a compilation album originally released in 1975, and we didn’t have to wait much because it was released here in Chile in January 1976 and like so many times of the period we got it with an UNIQUE COVER!!! The cover is a flipback cover made of 2 single pieces of thin non-laminated cardboard with front cover pasted on the flips of back cover. Front and back covers keep strictly the original artwork with album title, tracklist and all text written in English only, with the only difference it has a rounded Asfona Records logo at top right corner in front cover. Back cover, as already said, keeps the same original design but it’s blue tinted with the only difference that in 3 corners has the Atlantic Records logo (top left), “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO” (Special Deluxe Serie) at top right corner and “DISCO ES CULTURA” (Record Is Culture) at bottom left, with the credit for ASFONA Records at bottom edge!!! It’s interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Side One” and “Side Two” but in labels they are only “A” and “B”. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters. So, one more time another classic rock album edited in Chile which’s A MUST TO HAVE!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition both sides, clean and complete, with general wear in the edges and corners, more evident in the spine and mouth edge, with some creases and faint blemishes, with a light ring mark and little rips but no seam splits. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, not so glossy but clean, with many scuffs, hairlines and light scratches of all sizes which you could assume at first sight that will affect the sound, but no, the record plays without any problem. Labels are in VG or VG+ condition the Side A, clean and clear, but with evident wear, light discoloration and some spindle hole wear, and in EX or EX+ condition the Side B, absolutely clean, clear and bright, with only some spindle hole wear, no writings or any kind of mark. The sound is the best part, it’s in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only light crackles, more constant and more evident in the silent parts and between tracks of Side B, with occasional soft pops here and there, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, a fabulous record, not for strict audiophiles or Minty minds, but with a cover still in great condition, nice clean labels and great sound quality after about 49 years, a record to hear and enjoy, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! WOW!!! And keep in mind the UNQIUE COVER, date of pressing in the deadwax and UNIQUE BLUE-TINTED BACK COVER!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! _________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new
condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some
very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The
cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in
like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is
very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t
affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays
no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and
the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,
without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has
noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The
cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits,
discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly
and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface
noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Important Update (September 2025)
Due to new restrictions imposed by the USA on
parcel services worldwide, Correos Chile has suspended package shipments to the
USA. Now, my only option for sending a package from Chile to the USA is
the private FedEx service, through Correos Chile. The shipping cost for records
is as follows:
GBP55 for weight until 0,5kg
GBP70 for weight 0,5-1kg
I know it’s not a minor difference, but I can’t do anything. So, if you buy any of my records and shipping is to the USA, PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE WITH THE CORRECT VALUE informed.
All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
SHIPPING COST ISN'T "4" - WAIT FOR MY INVOICE
FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (September 2024)
Because the
UK’s tax authority, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), requires eBay collect
VAT information from sellers with UK customers, I’ve been informed that I need
to have a “valid UK VAT number on file” to sell to UK customers. As I live in
Chile and all my items are shipped from Chile, I don’t have an “UK VAT number”,
so I’m sorry to inform that I’M FORCED TO EXCLUDE
THE UK FROM MY WORLDWIDE SHIPPING POLICY. If you live in the UK and
you’d like to bid/buy some of my records, please contact me, I’m sure we could
find some solution.
If you have some doubt or question, feel free to contact us, we will be glad to answer all that you want to know about this item.
