Vintage 3" Cast Iron FA 1817  Noble 1518 Fire Association Small Plaque bottle opener

Bottle opener / Cast iron plaque in very good condition. 

The Fire Association was the first fire insurance company to grow out of volunteer fire departments in America. Eleven fire engine and hose companies joined the Fire Association in 1817. 

Beginning with no capital, the property of the associated fire companies was pledged, and the good credit of the trustees ensured that policies were written from the first year of the company's charter in 1820. The firemark adopted by the company was a fire plug with a length of hose attached to it.
