Japanese vintage (late 20thC) flower basket by master craftsman Keizo Yagisawa (1927-2006), signed on the bottom ‘Made by Keizo’. The basket measures 12cm high x 17cm diameter. Comes in a signed wooden box (tomobako).

Mint condition. A little gem.

Yagisawa studied under Living National Treasure Katsushiro Souho and established the ‘Yagisawa Bamboo Workshop’ in Otawara (Tochigi Prefecture) which specialises in detailed meshwork, a unique Japanese bamboo weaving technique. He became an Imperial Household artist, making many baskets for formal presentations from the Japanese Royal Family.
