Oxford Book of Common Prayer BCP 1979 Reader Large Print Episcopal Anglican
This is a flexible reader-sized Book of Common Prayer of Episcopal Church USA. It is the 1979 edition, but pre-RCL so it uses the older Sunday Lectionary. I
Please see the certification year if that’s important to you. If you are looking for quality editions with wonderful paper and typeface, pre-RCL is the only way to go since Oxford’s manufacturing went downhill starting in the late 1990s and Seabury was long since out of business.
This particular edition is a stand out from the 2007 Oxford editions because of the amazing paper quality. No ghosting and clear print!
Seabury produced, in my opinion, the highest quality BCPs aside from some early Oxford editions are even more rare and, in my opinion, had even superior paper quality. This is a great paring for a Harper NRSV Thinline or Cambridge NRA22/27, since they have almost the same footprint.
The binding is imitation leather and is in fantastic condition, with some small folding to the edges at the bottom.
This footprint is one of the thicker ones amongst the older BCP readers, but, in my opinion, has the best paper quality. If it’s going to be on your desk, this is one to have.
These are quite difficult to come by since this edition is long out of print. You have to search long and hard to find these larger editions.
I found no writing.
The page edges are in fantastic condition. I did notice that there must have been a manufacturing defect at Ash Wednesday that caused the page to be slightly larger than the rest of the text block.
I noticed part of the signature of pages was folded at the inner margins. Strange, but should fix itself over time.

Note:
I do not accept returns unless the item was not as I described because of a mistake I made. If the item is smaller than you thought it would be (because you didn’t read the description with dimensions), that’s on you.
I do not cancel orders for any reason, even if you accidentally ordered it. It takes about 3 steps to purchase an item, so if you paid for it, it’s yours.
I make these annoying rules because so many customers have recently treated the purchase of items flippantly and I have to draw a line somewhere. Well, here it is.
I always list any writing, stains, tears, or imperfection of any kind. And I always list the condition conservatively, so you should expect the item to be in better condition than listed. Unlike the vast majority of sellers out there, I refuse to hide imperfections through cleverly taken pictures or obscure descriptions. I try to include as many pictures as necessary to highlight the imperfections rather than the beauty of the items, which is part of why I have an elevated Seller Status and perfect feedback in which many consistently report back “just as described” or “better than described.” If I miss something by accident, please contact me so I can make it right. My flawless feedback should speak for itself, but you won’t be disappointed!
Thank you for your business and God bless!
