1964. CARRY ON CLEO released in the U.S.A. in 1965. TAGLINES : "Special Roar Show Engagement!" "She had Lotions . . . and Potions . . . and Motions!" - Two Britons, Hengist and Horsa, are captured and enslaved by invading Romans and taken to Rome. One of their first encounters in Rome leaves Hengist being mistaken for a fighter, and gets drafted into the Royal Guard to protect Caesar. Director Gerald Thomas' English Egyptian historical sexploitation comedy, "the funniest film since 54 B.C."; very loosely based on the play by William Shakespeare. Note that this was one of a very popular series of 30 "Carry On..." sexploitation movies that were made in England between 1958 (the first one was "Carry On Sergeant") and 1978 (at that point, it became a TV series, and there was one final theatrical movie in 1992. 

BEHIND THE SCENES TRIVIA : After the filming of the Elizabeth Taylor's "Cleopatra" (1963) was abandoned at Pinewood, the sets were left standing, it being cheaper than pulling them down for re- use. This allowed the Carry on team to move in and make full use of them. However when they tried to use an exact copy of the "Cleopatra" poster with the heads of Amanda Barrie, Kenneth Williams and Sid James replacing those of Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison, 20th Century Fox - despite huge financial losses in making their film and poor box office takings - still had enough financial clout to take court action over copyright infringement, which they won causing the Carry on poster to be changed.. According to Michael Caine. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor loved "Carry on Cleo" and would often show the film to guests on there Mediterranean yacht. Elizabeth would joke it was a better film than her original 1963 "Cleopatra".
