Old Upper Ramu Figure on custom wooden base 

This old spirit figure is from the Upper Ramu River region on the north coast of New Guinea.  This male figure is part human part bird.   I love the way the nose is also suggests a bird beak as well as transforming into the mouth of the figure.  It is encrusted with old paint and in good condition.  Note there is an old crack in the back which very stable.
