Vintage Set of DeLuxe Spacerite Metal Letter Stamps - 1 Inch Reg

This is a set of Spacerite metal letter stamps. These stamps were invented in 1925 by Timothy Jellows. Mr. Jellows was employed as a grave stone draftsman. His job was to stencil the name, date on a gravestone one letter at a time as a guide for the sandblaster or stone carver. This process was very time consuming. By using a special jig and these letter stamps. the person’s name was spelled out and transferred to onto tracing paper. The tracing paper was attached to the gravestone for the sandblaster or stone carver to work with. Today this process has been replaced by computer programs. Stamps are made of die cast metal and measure approximately 1 inch x 1 ¼ inch.  Included is a wood storage box. Box has stains and scratches. Written on side of box is 1-inch Reg. I believe this style of stamp is Modified Roman. Some letters have multiple quantities (i.e. Letter A Quantity 3; Letter R Quantity 2; Letter W Quantity 2 etc. There are no missing letters.
