Description: Three of four handwritten, one typed. Written while Eberhart was stationed in Virginia as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserve during World War II. The first is from June 1, 1943 and talks about circumstances and weather and then asks for the 1942 Best Poems, the latest New Directions anthology and books by Harry Brown, Baudelaire and Holderlin, and promises to pay the previous bill. The second letter from November 29, 1943 asks for a recently printed edition of Hudson's "Green Mansions" that was "advertised as something-or-other beautiful -- a gift book," and asks Gordon to find a good biography of the Brontes. A December 10, 1943 typed letter following up on the Bronte request which was for his wife and giving more specifics about "Green Mansions." A finall note on Grolier stationary seems to be a request to send the Kenyon Review for Spring 1944 to three people and is signed by Eberhart. Also enclosed is an addressed envelope to the Grolier Book Shop from Eberhart from 1944. Very Good.
