Francis Picabia (1879–1953) was a French avant-garde painter and one of the central figures of the Dada movement. Known for his restless experimentation, he shifted between Impressionism, Cubism, Dada, and Surrealism over his career. His bold, irreverent approach produced some of the 20th century’s most inventive and unconventional works, blending abstraction with humor, symbolism, and unexpected forms.

Untitled (1924–26) belongs to Picabia’s transitional period leading toward the Transparencies series. The work layers abstracted forms and stylized contours in overlapping rhythms, suggesting multiple figures and motifs without resolving into a single subject.
