Janelle Berry was a highly successful jockey who finished in the money in over 1/3 of her 4,739 races. She had 579 wins, placed in 510, and showed 512 times. Her winnings totaled $2,148,114.  She notched her first win as a 21 year old in 1976.  Much of her racing took place at Penn National track. Tragically, she was murdered in Oklahoma City in March 2008 at the age of 53.
