This used 5,000 Mexican peso note is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of Mexico. It is a brown, black, and tan note that is dated between 19 July 1985 to 28 March 1989, bear the signatures of either Gonzalo Garcia Rodriguez or Jaime Pacreu Vizcaya, and measures 157 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side features the flag of the Battalion Activo de San Blas and the Boy Heroes, six military cadets who were killed during the Battle of Chapultepec. These six heroes are Vicente Suarez, Juan Escutia, Juan de la Barrera, Fernando M. de Oca, and Agustin Melgar. Its reverse side contains Spanish text, a bank guilloche, the bank seal, the Chapultepec Castle (Castillo de Chapultepec) and the 1847 military college shield. Though the note does not have a watermark, it has a solid security thread.
