Why purchase Japanese CD's?
Japanese CDs are manufactured to the highest mastering specifications to produce outstanding sound quality and an improved audio experience that many audiophiles regard as superior to a standard CD.
Japanese CDs are produced in limited quantities, often feature Japan Only bonus tracks or bonus CD/DVDs (not available in any other country) and can be out of print for many years. Cover art and photos are also reproduced from the original release faithfully and at the highest quality.
Extra printed liner notes with the song lyrics in both English and Japanese, and other information about the artist and the release are also often included.
Some releases are also enhanced further via world class mastering techniques such as SHM CD, XRCD, Blu-Spec CD and HQCD.
All of these factors make Japanese releases highly sought after by collectors, especially as their value will often increase substantially over time.
What is a Promo CD?
Promo CDs were sent to media outlets before the commercial release date for review or advanced promotion. In Japan they are identical to the commercial release with the addition of a small sticker to the back cover artwork and the words "SAMPLE PRODUCT", "PROMO CD" or similar printed on the inner clear ring of the CD itself.
