This reel was made by J.W. Young & Sons, specifically for Edgar Sealey. The J.W. Young Pattern is in fact the 'Windex'.

To make the reel distinctive and individual to Edgar Sealey, it was branded the, 'Castrite' and was given white furniture. That is to say the winding handles and combined locking screw, brake and ratchet switch were made in white plastic. And very attractive it looks.

The picture of the Edgar Sealey Trade Sheet, shows the Castrite but in fact, this is the advertising shot of the J.W. Youngs Promo shots which show the reel with black handles and hub etc. 

The reel is 3 3/4" in diameter and was described as a Salmon or Pike Spinning Reel. According to Elwyn Attwoods book on Youngs Reels. This reel has morphed over the years. It started life as a general spinning reel, then became a precision Salmon & Pike Reel and ended up a Stout, precision built sea reel for boat pier and beach reel.

This one is in good working order. It shows some minor signs of use. Scratches to the finish and discolouration of the white plastic handles.
