Antique Karen Hill Tribe Opium Scale – Hand-Forged Balance with Carved Wood Base


This is a rare and authentic antique opium scale traditionally used by the Karen Hill Tribe of Northern Thailand or Myanmar. The set includes:

• A hand-forged iron balance beam with pivot and pointer

• Two metal weighing pans suspended by original cord

• A beautifully carved wooden base featuring a horse motif (often symbolic of tribal heritage or storytelling)


These types of scales were used historically for weighing opium, herbs, spices, and small precious items. It’s a unique piece of ethnographic history—perfect for collectors, museums, or rustic decor.
