Magneto-optical drives were first offered in NeXT computers. They were later also offered in Canon products.

The Original NeXT Cube Optical Drive Model N3000 is a vintage computing accessory from the renowned NEXT brand.

This optical drive is designed to work with vintage NeXT Cube  computers that require its functionality,

and it comes with am original NeXT Optical Drive  cable and

Used Optical drive dust  filter included for added Authenticity , dust proved to be the death nell to these drives even causing NeXT to reverse the direction of the cooling fan.     (I personally had 1 cube catch fire , my guess is a combination of a leaky capacitor , a rogue optical drive laser and a stock pile of internal dust created the perfect storm , I  pulled the plug and suffocated the flame and have since cleaned the dust bunny nests  out with either an industrial blower or can of dust off. )

This product is perfect for collectors or enthusiasts looking to enhance the authenticity of the NeXT Cube vintage computing experience with the authentic NeXT Cube Optical Drive Model N3000.

These were the original boot drives NeXT pressed Canon  to create the worlds very first Optical Drive , a monumental task.

Canon had invested 155 Million into NeXT Computer believing in Steve Jobs. Canon procured the Worlds Very First fully automated assembly line.

If you would endeavor to refurbish the Optical Drive it is not a novice level task , requires high level skill but when working is like the holy grail of NeXT Hardware. It is labor intensive at 4 hours and even then not guarantees it will work.
