Yea ……so after most other countries loaded their teams with pro players for decades the US got sick of it and decided to send a message.

I mean there was a time when the USSR was regularly handing the US their heads in Olympic basketball competition….

…..this was simply unacceptable and, again, the true might of US Basketball needed to be demonstrated.

Thus the creation of the 1992 Dream Team…..which was a nightmare for everyone else.

This team cruised through the international Olympic competition like it was one big vacation.

……and it, essentially, was!

There was no kneeling and no unAmerican grievances aired ……just a solid show of patriotic unification solely to show the rest of the world that the US was great and the basketball talent here was greater than anywhere else in the world….bar none!

And we haven’t lost since

…..except ONCE to Argentina

And one could argue that wasn’t the toughest team that could have been sent by the US…..but perhaps more of one hoping to garner a “Participation gold” medal

But more likely one sent out of pity to the rest of the world hoping to give them a feeling of having a fighting chance

….which they took advantage of

I mean losing to Puerto Rico might have been a sign that the handicap given to the world

…… was a bit too much.

But anyhoo this 1992 team set the standard. And this is the only one I see. Sure there is a 96 one out there. But this is the one that got it the ball rolling.

This was made by STARLINE. And this was a great poster company of that era and before.

This one is one of their rarer laminated clock offerings which should be great decor for a bar or mancave.

It is used and has long term storage wear and may need a spray and wipe-down.

Now I haven’t tested the clock but I believe it works. I will update listing once I test it. But for now it is sold AS IS.

This was the greatest era of basketball before it turned into this unpalatable joke.

And though I no longer watch the NBA, I do watch Olympic basketball.

And this is a great piece of USA Olympic history. Get it while you can.
