First World War, officer’s cuff rank tunic of the Hampshire Carabiniers. An early 1902 pattern officers tunic having twisted cord shoulder knots and breast pockets. Full compliment of Hampshire Carabiniers brass buttons. Rank lace to the cuffs denote a Lt Colonel. Two waist pockets have had there regimental buttons removed and tailored with flat plain buttons, probably for comfort when wearing a belt with equipment. Medal ribbons to the chest which include 1902 coronation, territorial decoration and Queens South Africa medal. This tunic was originally sold in 2005 with the officer’s peaked cap, which was named to Lt Colonel A C Nicholson.
Lt Colonel Arthur C Nicholson served in the Imperial Yeomanry during the Boer War.
