Our exclusive ezBuild sump kits are the fastest and easiest way to convert a glass aquarium to a fully functional sump. The key difference in our kits is the fully assembled sock baffle.  There's no need to purchase the Weld-On Cement, clamps, and other tools necessary to properly assemble the typical 3 piece keyed sock baffle found in other kits. We do that for you using recessed joints that insure proper alignment and improved strength. Since we don't use keyed parts, we don't create the leak points common with through hole tab slots. The end result is a durable, great looking sock baffle that you can install in minutes simply by dropping it into the tank and sealing it in with silicone.  So simple, a sea monkey could do it.

This 5.5 gallon kit has all the features of the big sump kits for the tiny 5.5 gallon tank. Included are all the parts you'll need to convert a standard glass Aqueon® or Imagitarium™ brand 5.5 gallon aquarium into a fully functioning 4 chamber sump or refugium for your display aquarium.  All you'll need is the glass aquarium, some aquarium safe silicone and a 4" filter sock that suits your filtration needs. The three included baffle plates can be used to divide the tank into distinct sections for filter socks, a refugium or equipment like protein skimmers or reactors, a bubble trap and your return pump.

  • Standard lid has up to two 1" pipe inlets and removable cover to keep salt creep to a minimum.
  • Sock baffle height is below the rim of the tank and includes overflow slots and a center recess to allow water to flow into the next chamber without overflowing the tank should your socks become fully clogged.

This kit includes:
  • Fully assembled single 4" sock holder.  Joints are Weld-On bonded prior to shipment for maximum strength and durability
  • 5.5" - 8" adjustable secondary baffle with 1/8" slots for coarse water filtering and water depth adjustment
  • Bubble trap plate
  • Two 1" filter plates which can go in between the secondary baffle and bubble trap plate.  These units allow you to suspend filter foam between the two plates to trap bubbles and particles escaping the main refugium/equipment section.  These are self supporting so the distance between the secondary baffle and the bubble trap plate is not defined by the width of the filter plate allowing you to set your place distance based on how much extra filter material you'll need.  Minimum distance is 1"

Installation is simple.  Using aquarium safe silicone, silicone the parts into your 5.5 gallon glass tank and allow 24 hours to dry.

NOTE:  This is designed specifically for Aqueon® o Imagitarium™ 5.5 gallon glass aquariums.  If your tank is not an Aqueon or Imagitarium, or you don't know for sure, please contact us prior to ordering with your tank inside dimensions.  To measure the inside, use calipers or trim a dowel rod or rigid piece of cardboard until it fits between the front and back glass of the tank while parallel to the bottom.  Message us with that length and we can confirm if it will fit.
