A STUNNING EDITION COMMEMORATING THE JAPANESE NAVAL AVIATORS OF WWII
DAWN OPERATIONS
By Robert Taylor
Dawn Operations captures a typical Pacific wartime scene during one of those few tranquil moments when conflict seems a million miles away. As dawn breaks over the naval base on the Shortland Islands, off the southern tip of Bougainville, a Mitsubishi F1M2 float plane is readied for its first reconnaissance flight of the day. Overhead a pair of A6M Zero fighters from a nearby carrier head out on patrol. Lying peacefully in the harbor a pair of cruisers prepare to sail. It is October, 1942.
Second Sub Lieutenant SADAAKI OHNISHI - flew the Mitsubishi F1M2 including Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Solomons and Rabaul
Sergeant Major TOYOMI TOYOSHIMA - flew the F1M2 and then carrier borne Mitsubishi A6M Zero.
Pilot First Class KEIYU TAKAKUWA - flew the Mitsubishi A6M Zero Carrier Fighter in the defense of Japan
In addition to the striking beauty of the image, it is seldom that a print has been signed by Japanese Naval Pilots, making this secondary market print a must-have for fans of the Pacific Theater.
