My Great Grandfather was an importer and exporter and acquired these beautiful paintings on rice paper from China.
Made with water color and oils, these exquisite paintings with intricate designs were done using a single strand sable brush
The date on this painting is circa 1900-1910.
1910 was a time of great upheaval in China with many people without jobs. Many sold paintings for a nominal amount just to get by and most of these paintings were unsigned.
This, 9"x7.5", painting has been mounted on acid free paper with acid free matting to preserve it. Beautifully done, this entire framed piece measures 14.5" x 12.5"
Given the age of these paintings and the fact that they were done on rice paper you can imagine just how delicate and fragile they are. This particular painting had a piece missing at lower corner.(please see photo)
Also, please see my other listings for more of these incredible paintings.
I tried very hard to cut down on the reflections while taking photos. Please see all photos and zoom in as these serve as part of the description.
