The Pure Fiji Story

In 1996 Gaetane Austin and her daughter, Andree, stood in their kitchen developing beauty products they hoped would sell on the world market.  They aimed to showcase Fiji's natural resources by creating something uniquely Fijian, a product which would grab the attention of consumers around the globe.

Pure Fiji quickly outgrew the kitchen.  The Austins realized there was a huge amount of natural resources to take inspiration from in Fiji.  Beautiful coconuts surrounded them, of which the oil had been proven to be beneficial to the skin.  The company invested in research and conducted lab testing to eventually discover a method of coconut oil extraction called "cold pressing" which retains the integrity and molecular structure of the oil.  The oil in turn remains as nature intended it - exceptionally high in medium chain fatty acids and a plant source of omega 3 and 6.

Overarching brand Pure Fiji had it's big break at the 2002 Emmy Awards ceremony when the company was chosen to provide their gorgeous handmade gift baskets filled with skincare product to the 200 glamorous nominees and presenters.

With the influx of brand name devotees such as Rachel Hunter, Nicole Kidman, Sarah-Michelle Gellar and Denise Richards a brand new, 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art factory was built in the Fijian capital of Suva to accommodate the increase in demand.  This factory was better able to manage production and it utilized the natural resources supplied by over 500 local people.  Even the paper used in the packaging is handmade from sustainable resources.  The income from these items has enabled villagers to educate their children and give them proper medical care.

Pure Fiji has been in operation since 1996.
