Barbless Tungsten Bead River Nymphs

36 flies include 2 of each pattern. 


This is the most comprehensive tungsten nymph selection I have made. I checked back against my most successful patterns over the years and the flies in this selection were used over and over again. All have been very successful on their day for both trout and grayling. The variety of sizes, weights and style cover almost all situations and water conditions.  

All flies use tungsten beads and top quality barbless hooks. Many are tied on Jig hooks allowing the flies to avoid snagging the bottom.  Included in my selection are:

Perdigon Nymphs. Size 14, 3mm slotted bead, 0.24gm. This is the pattern which helped Spain win the World championship in 2015, 2016 and 2018. They are small flies with UV Gel bodies that reduce friction allowing the flies to sink quickly. Perfect when you need small flies in fast deep water.

Trigger Tags. Size 12 jig hook, 3.5mm slotted gold bead, 0.4gm. The fluorescent tag seems to make these flies effective when others aren't, especially in slightly coloured water. The CDC wing adds life and movement to these flies.

Hare's Ears and Pheasant Tails. Size 12 jig hook, 3.5mm slotted gold bead, 0.4gm. Size 14 Straight hook, 2.4mm bead, 0.2gm. Both use fantastic natural materials and are always part of my ?go to? flies. Some have fluorescent hotspots while others have reflective Fibre Lite built into the thorax.

Squirmy Earthworm. Size 12 jig hook, 3.5mm slotted black bead, 0.5gm Whether it's ethical or not depends on your point of view but after a flood, this is a deadly pattern.

Caddis Pupae. Size 10 Grub hook, 3.5mm Copper bead, 0.5gm. This has a green latex body and a loop wing of CDC. The CDC holds air bubbles and represent the caddis nymph as it starts it's journey to the surface.

Olive Czech Nymph Size 12 grub hook, 2.7mm bead, 0.23gm.

Hare's Ear Nymph. Size 14 grub hook, 3.5mm bead, 0.4gm. This is a heavy small fly ideal for bouncing along fast shallow runs.
