The Oversized Aluminum Rod End has 1/2" thick steel locking collars on both sides that securely clamp to the outside column, which is designed to prevent the outer column from moving forward and aft.  The 3/4"-20 spline inner shaft telescopes inside the outer column, which is designed to allow 10" of telescoping movement inside the column.
