Early 20th Century football bank with "Thrifty" below the slot.
Seller's note: I am not completely certain this is an actual piece of Sherwood Brothers Pottery. What I am certain of is the following. Sherwood Brothers Pottery made other figural stoneware banks close in size. The tan color is right. The gold trim is identical/extremely similar to that of known Sherwood Brothers Pottery pieces. Finally, it's definitely period.
It is about 6 1/8" long x 3 5/8" wide x 3 5/8" high.
It is in very condition. There are no chips or cracks. The slot is damage free. There is a very light and hard-to-see 1" hairline beneath the "h" in thrifty (unphotographical). The gold trim is weak in spots. The bottom hole is original and has not been enlarged/broken open. This hard-to-find piece displays very well.
