color lithographed fold-out maps of the Western and Italian Fronts
during World War
One, published more than 100 years ago.
- The maps are printed
back-to-back on a single sheet
measuring a generous 71 x 96.5 cm [28" x 38"] and fold into stiff
cardboard covers with an extensive index to 10,000 place names.
- The maps were compiled by C.S. Hammond &
Company, New York and are drawn
on an approximate scale of 1:633,000. They show railways,
canals, aircraft depots, wireless stations, forts and redoubts, forests
and woods,
boundaries of countries, and fortresses, fortified towns, and naval
arsenals.
- Color overlays on the map of the Western Front show the
Farthest German
Advance, 1914; Farthest Allied Advance, to March 1918; German Advance,
1918; and Battle Line, November 1, 1918.

On the map of the Italian Front the overlays show the Farthest Eastern
Advance
of the Italian Army and the Battle Line on November 1, 1918.
- Condition: Maps, covers, and contents are in very
good condition,
complete, sound, and intact. A previous owner has written an
inscription in the margin at the upper right of the Western Front map,
and there are a few scattered
tiny closed edge tears. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any
