Orange hardback with cream block to spine with illustrated spine and lettering. First issue of the this edition, October 1918 (see photo 3). Owner nameplate at front free endpaper (see photo 7). A well preserved edition with strong and intact spine. Some natural foxing and age wear but certainly good and well preserved. Decorated endpapers front and rear have some natural age browning but the 270 pages are remarkably clear and bright for reading.
This is a rare and valuable first edition hardback book titled "Leaves in the Wind" by Alpha of the Plough. Published in 1918 by J.M. Dent & Sons Limited, this book features short stories and is illustrated with delightful drawings by Clive Gardiner. The original English language text is beautifully written and sure to captivate any reader with a collection of various 'Leaves' of story text. The ;author's real name was not of course 'Alpha of the Plough' but A G Gardiner, who is also a relative of the illustrator.
A splendid and scarce survivor of the era, priced to reflect some natural age wear.
